Though our clients represent a variety of industries, the firm specializes in the following: real estate, entertainment, not-for-profit, professional services, retail, and insurance.

H. Maggie Mayer established the Certified Public Accounting, Tax and Consulting firm of H. Maggie Mayer, CPA in 2000, which later became Mayer & Associates in 2008. Maggie's emphasis is to offer individuals and small to mid-sized businesses the level of professionalism normally found in a larger public accounting firm, while offering her clients the personal attention of a smaller firm.
In addition to running the firm, Maggie is an adjunct associate professor at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. She teaches courses in accounting and accounting information systems.
Prior to starting her own firm, Maggie gained her public accounting experience working for PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP (PwC), in Hartford, Connecticut. While at PwC, Maggie served a variety of clients, with a focus on clients in the following industries: not-for-profit, higher education, insurance, investments/securities, banking, real estate, and employee benefit plans.
Before joining PwC, Maggie gained extensive experience at well known private companies in the following industries: insurance, banking, real estate and hospitality.
Maggie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Quinnipiac College in Hamden, Connecticut, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She is a member of the Connecticut State Society of CPA's, and the American Society of Women Accountants where she currently serves as chapter auditor and previously served as Publicity Director. Maggie currently serves on the Board of Directors as an Advisory Board Member of Finances for the Shoreline Greenway Trail Inc of Connecticut.
Amongst her prior achievements is her completed hike of the entire distance of the Appalachian Trail. Maggie hiked the 2,146 mile footpath stretching from Georgia to Maine over a six-month (and 5 day) period. This endeavor was a triumph of planning, goal setting and persistence.
Annual participation in Continuing Professional Education courses offered by local chapters of national accounting and tax associations keeps the firm on the "leading edge" of ever-changing tax laws and accounting methods.

Dana Andrews, EA, CTO

Dana Andrews is an IRS licensed tax practitioner with 11 years experience, 10 with the largest tax preparation firm in the country, and is one of the funniest tax experts you will ever meet. Dana comes with experience in Tax Preparation, Management, Education and Small Business Development. His move to Mayer and Associates was motivated by the desire to do more for his clients on a year round basis. Dana began his career in taxation after several disappointing years of having his own taxes prepared incorrectly. Since his original training in 1997, Dana has served hundreds of clients in all income categories. Having the business experience, savvy and sense of humor makes an appointment with Dana a pleasure for his clients. When he has spare time, Dana enjoys playing games with his 4 year old triplets, reading science fiction, golfing and surfing on the internet to learn more useless information.
Dana started his career as a genetic engineer after his 1988 graduation from the State University of New York, College at Fredonia, deep in the Lake Erie snow belt. After a stint at the University of Buffalo, doing research on deadly bacteria, he moved to Tarrytown in Westchester New York to work for General Foods as a Formulation Chemist. Soon after he became smitten with his now Wife and moved to Queens in NYC to become a science teacher. Not one to do just one thing at a time, and needing to be able to pay for a looming honeymoon, Dana also worked as a freelance lab technician doing the radiation research no one else wanted to do. This explains a lot.
Dana completed his Masters Degree in Science Education with a perfect average and became one of the best (His Opinion) science teachers in NYC. Alas, his wife wanted to live in New England, and they were off to Connecticut. Dana simultaneously taught science to high school kids, worked his own construction business and became a tax preparer for several years in Connecticut. After several grueling years, he decided that his true passion was working with people, helping them save money. Dana determined that the tax world was where he wanted to be full time and forever. This confirmed his family’s suspicions that he was a little off his rocker. However, Dana has an excellent record as a tax professional, is Enrolled to Practice Tax Matters before the IRS and has a following of many wonderful clients.

Judy Mayer, as you might have guessed, is not only our esteemed Office Manager/Director of First Impressions, but, yes, she is also family. You will feel she is your family too from the moment you walk in. Always greeting you with a wonderful smile, making sure that you get all the answers you need in a friendly and timely manner. We are so lucky to have her. When she is not working at Mayer & Associates, she is playing with her grandchildren, keeping her husband in line, taking care of her 93 year old father-in-law, traveling, and entertaining a never ending stream of houseguests.
